The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an initiative aimed at fostering national consciousness and cultivating a sense of responsibility among students. It offers students the opportunity to dedicate their leisure time to serving the nation, thereby contributing to the community’s welfare. Membership in the NSS is open to all students, welcoming their active participation in social service endeavors. Each unit enrolls 100 students as volunteers annually. Notably, volunteers who actively engage in social service for 240 hours over two academic years under the NSS scheme receive recognition for their dedicated efforts through a certificate conferred by the University of Kerala. By promoting the spirit of service and instilling a deep sense of social responsibility, the NSS seeks to empower students to become proactive and compassionate citizens, committed to the betterment of society and the nation as a whole.<\/div>\n
The Motto of NSS \u201cNot Me But You\u201d<\/strong>, reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for self-less service. The NSS is introduced to develop the spirit of service, cooperation, patriotism, and discipline among the youth of this country. The scheme provides ample opportunity for the volunteers to participate in camps, social service activities, and also to attend useful classes. The art of living together, and to cop up with challenging environment are also learnt from the varying activities of the NSS. NSS helps the students develop appreciation to other person\u2019s point of view and also show consideration to other living beings. The philosophy of the NSS underlines the belief that the welfare of an individual is ultimately dependent on the welfare of the society on the whole and therefore, the NSS volunteers shall strive for the well-being of the society. Two units (Unit No. 38 & 66, University of Calicut)\u00a0 of the NSS are functioning in this college. The activities of the units are so framed to fulfil the objectives of the NSS. The volunteers have to complete 2 years of regular work and a 7- day\u2019s special residential camp.<\/div>\n

All the youth volunteers who opt to serve the nation through the NSS led community service wear the NSS badge with pride and a sense of responsibility towards helping needy.<\/p>\n

The Konark wheel in the NSS badge having 8 bars signifies the 24 hours of a the day, reminding the wearer to be ready for the service of the nation round the clock i.e. for 24 hours.<\/p>\n

Red colour in the badge signifies energy and spirit displayed by the NSS volunteers.<\/p>\n

The Blue colour signifies the cosmos of which the NSS is a tiny part, ready to contribute its share for the welfare of the mankind.<\/p>\n
