Department of physics in NSS College, Nemmara was established in 1967. The department started with Pre-Degree classes. B Sc Physics Programme started in 1979. There are 4 faculty members. In addition to academic activities all members in the department are associated with various co-curricular activities. The department offers B Sc Physics Programme and complementary courses for chemistry and Instrumentation students.
The Department has a general Physics lab, optics and spectroscopy lab, Electronics and Instrumentation lab. All laboratories are equipped with modern equipments required for conducting practicals. The laboratories are with a backup support of 1.5 Kw AC generator.
ICT facilities in the department include Projectors(LCD and OHP), computers( desktop, laptop and netbook), Printer/scanner/copier and Access point for 10MBps VPN BB Connector.
